The Sunni Association in Iraq / Voluntary fasting
In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful
The guidance of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding voluntary fasting
Dr.. Amin Al-Musleh
Praise be to God who is worthy of praise, and prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, who raises the banner of praise, and upon his family and companions (O you who have believed, fear God as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims), as for what follows:-
The best speech is the speech of God Almighty, and the best guidance is the guidance of our Chosen Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and in contradicting his guidance there is misguidance and loss. Since this is the case, we wanted to explain his guidance in voluntary fasting, so that we may follow his Sunnah, follow his example, and follow his method, God Almighty willing.
He, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, loved fasting and was devoted to it. He fasted and wanted to fast, and he urged his companions and his nation to do so.
In Al-Nasa’i, with an authentic chain of transmission, on the authority of Abu Umamah Al-Bahili, may God be pleased with him, he said: I said, O Messenger of God, please guide me with something that will benefit me. He said: [You must fast, for there is nothing like it.]
